The ferry from Harwich to Esbjerg is the only ferry route between UK and Denmark. If you intend taking the car to Denmark, elsewhere in Scandinavia, the Harwich to Esbjerg ferry is by far the best option. Any other ferry route from England or Scotland would mean far more driving. However, the ferry routes to Hook of Holland, Rotterdam or Amsterdam are a good option for anyone wanting to reach Germany, particularly the western areas. If you wish to reach northern or eastern Germany, you may still consider the Harwich to Esbjerg ferry the best option. Driving from Hook of Holland to Hamburg for example, is over 500km, whereas Esbjerg to Hamburg is just over 300km and a very straightforward drive.
